Boston Rising
A Fund to Fight Poverty in Boston
Boston Rising is a major initiative that aims to create a new, freestanding Boston-area charity that is focused on fighting poverty, investing in effective nonprofits, and is metrics-driven.
Eos intends to invest $15 million over 5 years in the Boston Rising model, and is in the process of raising matching funds to support this initiative, which mirrors several key elements of the Robin Hood model that has seen great success in New York City. This innovative New York City-based group draws significant support from financial, hedge fund, and industry leading professionals — over $130 million last year alone — and applies business techniques to help nonprofits make the greatest impact in alleviating poverty.
We are fortunate to have some of the most effective and innovative nonprofits in the country working on poverty issues here in Boston, and we need to tap a greater proportion of our private wealth to invest in them.
